Potton Food & Flower Gardens

These are two community-led initiatives. The food garden is located in Myers Road (see location map on front page).

The flower gardens have been created by local residents who stocked them using surplus plants from their own gardens. Volunteers tend to the removal of any undesired wildflowers and plant any plants they have spare.

The gardens were started in 2020, between the two lockdowns of the Covid pandemic. The first garden was along Meeting Lane and this was soon followed by a second garden off Baker Avenue. The idea was to make these well-used paths, and routes into the town, nicer to walk along. Residents living nearby maintain them and occasionally organised sessions take place where a larger group will come to spend half a day – usually on a Sunday – to have a tidy-up. In addition, the Community Payback Team also contribute to the maintenance of the gardens.

If you would like to support either the Food or Flower Gardens, or create and run a garden along the verge or pathway where you live, and would like further information please email enquiries@pottontowncouncil.gov.uk.
